About Haruna

Haruna

Hi, I'm Haruna โ€” a Japanese teacher from Hiroshima, Japan. My motto: let's learn while having fun! ๐ŸŒˆ Whether you're a complete beginner or want to feel confident in everyday conversation, I'll guide you slowly and carefully with a lesson plan that fits you โ€” no pressure.

Before teaching, I worked as a nurse for 10 years, so I bring plenty of patience and care to every lesson (I can even teach medical Japanese). Outside of class I love traveling โ€” I spend a few months a year in Hawaii โ€” and I'm a big anime fan (I've watched My Neighbor Totoro over 100 times!).

My lessons balance listening and reading with speaking and writing. All materials are provided with lots of colorful illustrations, so you learn naturally through images rather than translation. I teach absolute beginners through JLPT N5โ€“N3, and every lesson is tailored to your level and goals.

What you'll learn

๐Ÿ“˜

Grammar, step by step

Clear explanations of each pattern with example sentences you can actually use.

๐Ÿˆ

Readable from day one

New to Japanese writing? Every example is shown four ways: the real Japanese (with kanji, the Chinese-origin characters), the reading in kana (Japan's simple alphabet), the pronunciation in our own letters (romaji), and the English meaning โ€” so you can follow along before you can read a single character.

๐ŸŽฏ

JLPT N5โ€“N3 ready

Focused practice that builds toward the JLPT exams (N5โ€“N3) with confidence.

๐Ÿ”

Practice your way

Hide the romaji or kana anytime to test yourself without hints.
